Democrats have been divided on whether to investigate the President’s family members in his business dealings which include the First Daughter and her husband Jared Kushner. The House Speaker told The Washington Post: “Whoever falls into that net, falls into that net. “They are advisors to the President. They have security clearances. This is not their children at home.” Both Ivanka and her husband have served in the West Wing since Trump became President.
As Senior White House advisor, Ivanka has been engaging with issues such as workforce development and paid family leave.
Mr Kushner who is also a senior advisor to Trump has been tackling Middle Eastern peace and US criminal justice reform.
The top security clearances which were given to Ivanka and her husband were controversial at the time.
Reportedly the President had pressured the then-chief of staff John Kelly and White House counsel Don McGahn to approve a security clearance for the First Daughter.
