Repeated nationwide, that would mean 2.7 million older people were left shivering. Yet the research, carried out by website comparethemarket.com, shows most were embarrassed to seek help. Four in five said they did not want their family to worry about them, and 77 per cent said they wouldn't want their family to help them financially.
