It came down to James, 40, and Wes Nelson, 20, in the end after Saara Aalto achieved third place on the ITV contest.
But it was the former Strictly Come Dancing professional who was announced as the winner by hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.
James was doubled over by the news but he wasn’t the only one who was evidently moved.
Ola, 36, was seen to be overcome with emotion in the Dancing On Ice audience when the camera cut to her.

The dancer was in floods of tears as she applauded her husband’s achievement.
Those took to Twitter to comment on Ola’s reaction, and it was all love for the happy couple.
