Andrew Neil suggested the UK’s Brexit bargaining position would weaken if the country asked the EU for an extension. The BBC presenter added that it is the EU who will hold the cards in the negotiation and how long an extension is granted for. Mr Neil said: “I think revoking is pretty unlikely, though in this climate nothing is unlikely I should make that clear.

“What is likely now is an extension of Article 50 beyond March 29.
“But that is tricky for us because as a country we are essentially supplicants in that process.
“We have very few bargaining cards to play with the EU.
“They will, in the end, determine the length and determine the purpose or at least demand a purpose.”
