Jennifer Saunders, 60, led an all-star comedic cast in a sketch of Mamma Mia Here We Go Again! with the parody poking fun at signer Cher’s, 72, part in the film. The spoof was shown in two parts, with both airing within half an hour of first part of Zoe Ball, 48, and actor David Tennant, 47, took over the reigns from Emma Willis, 42, and Paddy McGuinness, 45. Although some viewers felt the sketch was a triumph, others went convinced and threaten to switch off as the jokes fell flat. Taking to Twitter, viewers reacted to the one-off sketch for the Comic Relief BBC telethon, divided over their thought’s for the comedy spoof. One viewer posted in anguish of the sketch: “I’m not really sure who thought that Mamma Mia sketch was a good idea. Nearly switched off the whole program for that tripe #comicrelief2019.” Another wrote: “Isn’t #comicrelief2019 supposed to be funny - who on earth writes the links ! Pleeease!,” to which a third added: “Feigned enthusiasm from the presenters for this Mama Mia sketch. What a load of rubbish. Don’t know why I’m even watching this. #ComicRelief2019 #ComicRelief.” A fourth remarked: “That #mammamia sketch was the most uncomfortable piece of TV since the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special. FACT. #comicrelief2019.” However, a fifth had hope the second part would be better than the first, commenting: “Part one mamma Mia was a little bit disappointing hopefully part two will face jumping out my seat. #comicrelief19 #RedNoseDay2019 #comicrelief2019.” Though, others were quite appeased by the sketch, with one viewer opining: “Look, I adore mamma mia as much as the next stagey person but I fully except this roast. Its spot on. #mammamia #ComicRelief.” “Loving the Mamma Mia spoof! #comicrelief2019,” another simply stated, whilst a third viewer pleased by the spoof remarked: “Oh my god! The @comicrelief Mamma Mia sketch is one of the funniest things I've seen in ages.
