WARNING: This article contains spoilers for The Walking Dead season nine, episode 13: Scars.
Michonne (played by Danai Gurira) and Daryl Dixon’s (Norman Reedus) painful looking X scars have fascinated fans of The Walking Dead since it was unveiled in the time jump in season nine.
Having questioned how their wounds transpired, viewers were gobsmacked when they finally discovered how it originated in episode 14, titled Scars.
The arrival of Jocelyn gave fans the answers they so desperately needed in the form of flashbacks, with the first showing Michonne in her pregnancy.
She is seen with RJ Grimes (Antony Azor) still searching for signs of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and finds his pistol hidden under mud from the river bank, which she later placed in a wooden box for Judith (Cailey Fleming).
When she bumps into Daryl, who is out looking for Rick’s body, he refuses to return to Alexandria until he can bring something home.
In the present day, he arrives at Alexandria with Connie (Lauren Ridloff), Lydia (Cassady McClincy) and an injured Henry (Matt Lintzs).
Although Michonne trusts Daryl, she is sceptical of Lydia as she remembers all too well how outsiders came to Alexandria’s gates years before and changed everything.
Her scouts once found a group of children with a woman, Jocelyn (Rutina Wesley), and welcomed them to their community, even sending a group out to look for the remaining kids.
But the following morning Michonne woke up to find Jocelyn and her kids had vanished, taking their food and medical supplies, as well as Judith and several of Alexandria’s kids, with them.
