In the comics, Michonne (played by Danai Gurira) has a daughter called Elodie who survived the apocalypse and has been living in the Commonwealth community.
The Walking Dead TV series has so far not adapted this story but could this explain how she eventually leaves after the Whisperer War?
Could she find out her missing daughter’s existence after all these years and be reunited?
Actress Gurira has spoken of her character’s destiny in the comics before: “Well, of course, what does it mean to a parent to find out their kid’s still alive? That’s amazing.
“I’m sure there’s nothing like it on the planet because there’s nothing like the loss of a child, nothing more painful. I think they’re miles ahead of us in the comic book, but that’s a beautiful storyline that she has.”
Is she teasing, although so much is to come before the Whisperer War is over, her character could finally be reunited with her daughter?
It seems odd the TV series bosses chose to alter Michonne’s fate given Gurira shared her thoughts on it being such a “beautiful storyline.”
With actor Gurira’s announcement that she is to leave the show after season 10, it would provide the perfect ending for her without breaking fans’ hearts be killing her off.
One Twitter user said: “Just give us a good ending with some closure and not let it dwindle away. Fans deserve it.”
Another added: “It’s unfortunate Michonne won’t find out one of her daughters is still alive.”
