The cleanest airlines in the world have been revealed in a new global survey. Asian carriers dominated the list and, shockingly, no UK airlines made the top 10, or even the top 30. Ryanair, easyJet, British Airways and other UK airlines were nowhere to be seen on the ratings. Instead, the World's Best Airline Cabin Cleanliness 2018 went to Japan's ANA All Nippon Airways. The rankings were carried out as part of the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2018. UK-based aviation industry reviewer Skytrax carried out the research by surveying passengers. Travellers were asked to rate the standard and quality of aircraft cabins. They looked at tables, carpets, toilets, seat areas and cabin panels. In second place came Taiwan’s EVA Air and in third place South Korea’s Asiana Airlines. Cathay Pacific Airways (Hong Kong), Qatar Airways, Swiss International Air Lines, Hainan Airlines (China) and Lufthansa (Germany) made up the rest of the top 10. Swiss International Airlines was revealed to be the top-rated airline for cleanliness in Europe. Air Canada was voted the cleanest out of all North American carriers. Last year CBA News Marketplace conducted an investigation to find out where the filthiest parts of the plane are, as well as some of the vilest items found onboard. The investigation swabbed 100 areas of the plane on 18 short-haul flights on three major airlines in Canada. Some of the locations included the headrest, tray table and seat belt. The headrest was the worst place on the plane, with haemolytic bacteria and E.coli found on it, as well as having the highest aerobic count. This was followed by the seat pocket, washroom handle, tray table and then the seatbelt which came in fifth place. Warriner found that nearly half of the samples had enough bacteria to cause someone to get an infection. Top 10 cleanest airlines 1. ANA All Nippon Airways 2. EVA Air 3. Asiana Airlines 4.
