The incident unfolded as Alex’s co-presenter Matt Baker was introducing what was coming up in the BBC programme this evening.
The sound of a phone alert could be heard as Matt was talking, and Alex let out a gasp.
Reaching to get her mobile, Alex said: “Oh sorry my phone just went off, let me turn it off.”
Matt then joked: “Well that will be one of those wonderful people in the Outer Hebrides saying ‘Is our film on?’”

Alex repeated: “Sorry, sorry!”
“It is. It’s probably Fiona McKenzie actually,” Matt continued.
Alex then explained what the two were talking about as they referred to the upcoming segment.
She announced: “We met Fiona last summer when we were on our travels to Stornaway with a little story of an English man who thought he knew what was best for the crofters of Lewis and Harris.”
It comes as Alex celebrated her 42nd birthday today.
