The alien world which is 4 billion miles from the Earth is officially named 2014 MU69. NASA spacecraft New Horizons had been sent on a 13-year journey to study Pluto until NASA redirected the mission to the small two-bodied rock which was discovered in 2014. Data from the spacecraft is slowly being sent back to the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory for study.
Alan Stern principal investigator said at a press briefing: “The data that we already have on the ground is just mouth-watering.
“It's really changing our ideas, considerably, about how small bodies of the Kuiper Belt, the building blocks of planets like Pluto, were formed."
William McKinnon, a co-investigator at Washington University added: “What Ultima Thule is teaching us is that the formation of a binary that first forms as a co-orbiting
