#TheCrown star Charles Dance appears as Lord Mountbatten ahead of shocking ...

The Crown is due to change a lot of details in this upcoming third season when it returns to Netflix later this year.

Perhaps the biggest change of the show is the replacement of Queen Elizabeth II actor, Claire Foy, with Academy Award winning actor Olivia Colman.

As the Queen continues to age in the show, Claire was moved out of the narrative as it enters the 1960s, and into the 70s.

With this era will come some more scenes of the Queen and her husband, Prince Philip (played by Tobiaz Menzies) in many of the political stories that occurred.

However a number of new characters will be joining the third season, and with it, their own controversial stories.

One of these brand new characters is Lord Louis Mountbatten, who is being played by Game of Thrones actor Charles Dance.

In brand new photos of the third season’s filming, Charles can be seen playing the Lord during a pivotal event in his life.

In the image Lord Mountbatten can be seen smirking as he leads a team of men out of Whitehall as they carry an oil painting of him.

Another photo shows the Lord being applauded as the painting is taken away.

However, it is unknown which historical events the show will be diving into when it arrives on Netflix.
