Clare Devlin star reveals she cried ALL DAY over THIS #DerryGirls scene ...

The Northern Ireland-based series was a runaway hit from the off-set due to Lisa’s personal experiences of growing up in Derry during the Troubles.

Combining comedy with serious topics, the Channel 4 writer has had such huge success the channel announced the show’s return for a season two very early on.

But during filming for one major scene this year, Clare Devlin (played by Nicola Coughlan) has shared she found it incredibly difficult.

Fans will remember episode one of the latest series featured the girls meeting up with the “Protestant boys” from a school across the Northern Ireland and Ireland border in an attempt to try and find peace in the difficult time.

The day trip then led to various group activities - with one being rock climbing outdoors.

In an interview with Express.co.uk, Clare star Nicola, 31, shared the brutal realities of her experience.

“Derry girls wants to throw you off a cliff you do it,” she laughed, before turning serious. “It was such a long day and I did so much crying.

“You’ll see in the close-ups there’s just no make-up left on my face because I was so terrified.”

Nicola went on to reveal some behind the scenes secrets too, including that she filmed most of the tough action sequences herself without a stunt double.
