#GameofThrones Brienne of Tarth moment CUT from series - Here's why!

Game of Thrones’ Brienne of Tarth (played by Gwendoline Christie) is nothing if not honourable and never fails to carry out her sworn duty, with her making sure she avenged Renly Baratheon’s (Gethin Anthony) killer and protected Catelyn Stark’s (Michelle Fairley) two daughters.

With the former she tracked down Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane) in the season five finale, Mother’s Mercy, and ended his life with one swift swing of her sword.

In the intense scene the tall, blonde-haired woman asked the self-titled king if he had any last words before he died, to which he simply replied: “Do your duty”.

However, the scene was supposedly meant to show Stannis regretting his decisions and how he blindly pursued the Iron Throne, killing his brother and daughter, Shireen (Kerry Ingram), in the process.

A leaked version of the script, which has been shared on Imgur, says Stannis asked his assassin if she believed in “the life to come”.

When she nods in agreement, he goes on ask her to tell his brother and daughter he is sorry for the crimes he has committed against them.

It read: “Tell Renly I’m sorry when you get there. I don’t imagine I’ll see him wherever I’m going.

“And my daughter. Tell her… tell her…”

The script continued: “‘Sorry’ doesn’t begin to cover what he feels about Shireen. The thought of it brings tears to his eyes, and he’s not going to die weeping in front of a woman he doesn’t know.

“Stannis stares up at her," before Stannis says: “Go on. Do your duty.”
