Dan Walker turned 42 yesterday, with his BBC Breakfast colleagues acknowledging the milestone by gifting him a banana with “Happy Birthday” etched on it. The present was nod to a video the journalist had recently uploaded in which he and co-star, Louise Minchin, lifted the lid of the Women’s FA Cup trophy to reveal the fruit hidden inside. On the day of his birthday, Dan made a point of telling his 68,5000 followers his co-host had forgotten to bring in his birthday cake. Although, he did go on to add she promised she would present him with the treat the next day.
True to her word, the 50-year-old broadcaster brought in a mouth-watering chocolate coated sponge cake with white flakes on it.
Sharing a picture of the snack on his account, Dan thanked Louise for the gesture, before adding his cheeky remark.
Alongside a snap of him holding the baked good, he wrote: “Welcome to #internationaldayofhappiness
HUGE ‘thank you’ to @louiseminchin for following through on her promise and bringing in a massive cake.
“I went in for piece number one at 5:20 am... it’s never too early.”
Fans of the star could not resist commenting on his last remark, regarding munching down a piece of cake in the early hours of the morning.
