Blue Planet and Blue Planet 2 were enormous hits with fans of wildlife programmes and the planet's incredible nature.
But one of the major drawing points was that of having legendary wildlife presenter Sir David Attenborough narrating them.
Tonight’s edition of the BBC series was quite different as it featured a trio of known wildlife presenters in three different locations across the world.
Chris Packham was on a boat surrounded by two large blue whales in the oceans of Baja, Mexico.
Liz Bonnin took up residence on the great barrier reef in Australia.
Steve Backshall then dove deep into Bimini waters in the Bahamas, where it was “shark central”.
Many viewers were so confused by the absence of David they were scanning the scenes and wondering when he might pop up on the BBC programme, but he never arrived.
Taking to Twitter, fans went into meltdown as the disappointment set in.
One person posted: “Blue Planet Live is just not the same without David narrating it #BluePlanetLive.”
