“The Prime Minister is the Prime Minister for a reason and she could turn this situation around" (Image: GETTY/BBC NEWSNIGHT)
The comments came after MPs voted to seize control of the Parliamentary agenda and push a series of votes that could see the UK’s EU exit watered down or even cancelled. The Government was defeated last night by 329 votes to 302 in its bid to stop the Parliament taking control of the process. Ballots will take place on Wednesday, with MPs expected to push for a softer Brexit.
Ms Braverman argued the Government has a duty to prevent Brexit being diluted.
Appearing on BBC Newsnight on Monday she commented: “Ultimately the Government is responsible.
“The Prime Minister is the Prime Minister for a reason and she could turn this situation around tonight.
“She could honour the legal position, which is that we’re leaving on March 29, she could lead us through to a WTO Brexit.”
