The Prime Minister’s divorce deal was rejected by MPs for a third time on Friday. Britain is due to leave without a deal on April 12 if it does not pass an agreement or seek a longer delay before then. Mr Bertrand, a former health minister and current head of the northern Hauts-de-France region, told Europe 1 radio: “The British shot themselves in the foot.
“They chose to leave. Even if there are some bloody a***holes in their political class.
“Farage and other Leave campaigners told people a load of nonsense and did not give the slightest care in the world whether their lies would have an impact on their daily lives.
He continued: “They took the p**s out of voters. And now they’ve gone into hiding.”
The “extremes,” Mr Bertrand added, are “incapable of managing, but world champions when it comes to kicking up a bloody mess. Chaos suits them”.
Lawmakers rejected Prime Minister Theresa May’s divorce deal for a third time on Friday, leaving the UK in turmoil on the day it was originally meant to leave the Brussels bloc.
But the decision to reject a stripped-down version of Mrs May’s exit agreement with the EU has left it totally unclear how, when, or even whether Britain will quit the international organisation and thrown country into unprecedented uncertainty.
“I fear we are reaching the limits of this process in this House,” Mrs May told lawmakers after her bruising defeat.
