Debbie (played by Charley Webb) has become one of the most intrinsic characters on Emmerdale over the years, but she is now faced with dealing with one of the most harrowing twists to come to pass on the ITV soap.

Debbie and Joe’s (Ned Porteous) rocky relationship was never easy, but the mechanic had finally learned to trust the millionaire businessman when everything fell apart.

With the return of Kim Tate (Claire King) Joe’s future was in jeopardy and Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) was tasked with murdering him.

A startling twist saw Cain appear to kill Joe with a single punch, but it has recently been revealed the character managed to survive after all - Graham had simply patched him up and shipped him off to Montecarlo.

At first Cain was thrilled to discover he hadn’t actually killed his daughter’s ex-fiance, determined to tell her the truth in tonight’s instalment.

Unfortunately Debbie’s shock and anger was so palpable it was clear she may never be able to forgive her father for his lies.

What’s more, the mother-of-two is now forced to confront the possibility Joe didn’t really love her and was happy to disappear from the village without a second thought.
