Emmerdale’s Matty Barton (played by Ash Palmisciano) has been waiting for his sex reassignment surgery for a while and in the coming weeks, the day will finally come back.
The ITV soap character finds himself worried sick with nerves before the operation.
As a result, he heads out and gets blind drunk the night before - much to worried mother, Moira Barton’s (Natalie J Robb), annoyance.
Furthermore, the pair clash at the hospital the next day when she insists she will speak for her son.
Matty, who knows his own mind, insists she shuts up and he even takes drastic action.
Moira finds herself banned from being anywhere near the operation and she is heartbroken.
The farm-worker storms to Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) and lashes out completely.
However, her anger comes from a place of love and she finally breaks down and admits she is worried she will lose Matty.
The pair make up and resolve to sit and wait in peace for news about Matty’s status.
