Originally designed as a wedding gift, the royal accessory will soon be available for bidders, but it won’t come cheap.

The tiara is going on sale in auction house Christie’s after it was first made in 1904.

The luxury item was made as a wedding gift for Princess Alexandra of Hanover and Cumberland from her husband Germany’s Frederick Francis IV, the Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin.

The Grand Duke chose to go to the jeweller, Faberge, for the expensive gift as his mother, Grand Duchess Anastasia Mikhailovna of Russia, was a huge collector of the designer’s jewellery.

Designed to perfection, the tiara actually arrived a month after the wedding as the Grand Duke took so long to chose which gem stones he wanted on the design and Faberge’s sketches reportedly went missing.

The tiara features a number of aquamarines stones and diamonds on top of a floral silver and diamond design.
