Here's everything you need to know about today's upcoming #EUsummit

There are just two days left until the UK exits the European Union and Brussels now holds the key to Brexit's future. Prime Minister Theresa May will meet with EU leaders for crunch talks late on Wednesday in order to persuade them to postpone Brexit again. Mrs May will call for a June 30 extension with the possibility of an earlier departure should the UK Parliament agree to ratify her EU Withdrawal Agreement.

Who is Theresa May meeting today?

Following PMQs at Westminster, Mrs May will travel to Brussels this afternoon for the emergency talks.

On arrival, she will meet with President of the European Council Donald Tusk, scheduled for 4.30pm BST (5.30pm local time).

The EU Summit's main item on the agenda - Special European Council (Article 50) - kicks off at 5pm BST (6pm local time).

There, she will deliver an address to all EU27 leaders - but only after a talk from European Parliament president Antonio Tajani.

Following the summit, Mrs May is expected to give a press conference and update MPs back in the UK on Thursday.

What are the options for a Brexit extension?

A leaked EU27 memo, exposed by Buzzfeed, revealed the Brussels bloc has two proposals to consider this week - and there are three dates you need to know.

EU leaders could choose to delay Brexit until May 22 if MPs can approve a withdrawal deal by this Friday.

Or, if that is not accepted by world leaders, Britain could face a much longer extension, possibly to December 31, 2019, or March 31, 2020.
