#OurPlanet EXCLUSIVE: How can we help stop climate change?!

Netflix viewers have been hooked to David Attenborough’s brand new wildlife documentary Our Planet ever since it was released last week. The series, which consists of eight episodes, explores the dangers human impact is currently having on the planet’s wildlife and how it has left thousands of species in danger. So, as a result of Our Planet, how can we help stop climate change? Express.co.uk exclusively spoke to Our Planet executive director Colin Butfield to find out.

David Attenborough explains throughout Netflix series Our Planet just how much damage climate change is having on the world’s wildlife.

Netflix viewers have been left stunned by a number of episodes which show the impact the changes are having on the world – from the heartbreaking walrus scene to the bleaching of the Great Barrier Reef.

Our Planet has kickstarted a number of viewers into action to help the world restore balance with its wildlife.

WWF executive director Colin Butfield, who also acted in the same role on Our Planet, has exclusively given his advice in how changes can be made.

Butfield said: “We are at a unique moment - we’re the first generation to know what we’re doing to our planet, and the last who have the chance to put things right.

“There is still time to restore nature and reverse the impact of our effect on the planet and WWF is optimistic that we can bring about this change.

“To do that, we need citizens around the world to demand their leaders act urgently to protect the planet. Stories, such as the ones in Our Planet, can be an incredibly powerful way to inspire people to take action.

“And we won’t see the action we need from people, government or business without the weight of public opinion behind us - that’s why it’s vital to engage and inspire the many millions we can reach through this Our Planet.

“We want people to use the power of their voices as consumers and citizens.

“Individuals can act by changing their own behaviours, such as changing the energy they use or the food they eat, and by using their voice to call for action from businesses and
