Tom (played by William Troughton) has recently tied the knot with Natasha (Mali Harries) on The Archers and the couple are already making plans for their future, which includes some unwelcome tweaks to the family farm.
As the BBC Radio 4 soap got underway this evening, Natasha sat down with her husband as well as Tom’s parents Pat (Patricia Gallimore) and Tony Archer (David Troughton), to discuss the couple’s latest venture.
Having taken on the farm from this parents, Tom told them he was going to see the pigs the family had accumulated over the years, which were bought as a birthday gift for the couple’s late son, John Archer (Sam Barriscale).
However, Pat took great offence when Natasha tried to explain why the couple were deciding to make the sale, with the traumatised mother believing her daughter-in-law was belittling her son’s memory.

After the conversation became heated, Tom and Natasha returned home to the farm as Tony tried to console his wife who had become increasingly distressed by her daughter-in-law’s sentiments.
However, their son Tom was getting a rough ordeal from his newly wedded wife as she blamed him for not making her aware the pigs had been bought for John, making the farmhand believe he was the one in the wrong.
As Tom explained his mother was going to take offence either way, Natasha became increasingly frustrated with her husband.
“Once I said we were getting rid of the pigs, John was bound to come into the conversation,” Tom said, to which Natasha asked: “And you could see that coming?”
Justifying his mother’s response, Tom said: “It’s a sensitive area for mum,” to which his wife hit back: “It’s a pity you didn’t tell me that then?
“If you knew we had to tread so carefully, it would’ve helped me to know that because you do have a really complicated family,” Natasha
