Anne Hegerty, 60, who is best known for her role as The Governess on ITV’s The Chase, clarified her decision to record a special video for a viewer today. The sweet clip featured the quizzer wishing happy birthday to a fan named Russell. She said: “Hello Russell, it’s The Governess here, I do hope your 29th birthday is simply splendid. “Don’t eat too much cake!”
Russell was clearly overjoyed with the message, sharing the video on Twitter.
He tweeted: “I cannot cope that the absolute icon @anne_hegerty wished me a happy birthday. Thank you so much.”
In spite of the sweet gesture, Anne felt that it was necessary to explain her appearance in the clip to her 118,000 followers.
The intelligent star went on to share details about her connection to the fan, revealing that he knows her niece.
She added: “And, before you all start asking me... Russell has a friend who works with my niece. So that's why.”
Anne’s followers took to the comments section in response to the post, joining her in celebrating Russell’s birthday.
