The Grimsby-born dancer, 36, made a cheeky joke at the Olivier Awards 2019 last weekend, where he and his former Strictly Come Dancing pro sister Joanne Clifton, 35, were presenting an award. Taking to the stage, the pair looked the picture of glamour for the star-studded ceremony, with Kevin Clifton putting on a dapper display in a sharp black suit and tie. “I’d just like to say what an honour and privilege it is to be here tonight at the Olivier Awards amongst so many talented and inspiring people,” he told the crowd. Turning to the royal box in the Royal Albert Hall, he then addressed Camilla Parker Bowles, 71, who was in attendance with her son Tom Parker Bowles. “And hopefully, fingers crossed, your Royal Highness, my next partner on Strictly Come Dancing?” he quipped, as the audience tittered.
Joanne gestured to her brother by jerking her thumb in his direction in an encouraging motioning order to urge the royal to sign up to the show.
The dancers, who have both lifted the Glitterball trophy on Strictly Come Dancing, took to the stage at the Oliviers in order to present the gong for Best Theatre Choreographer.
Joanne joined the professional line-up on the show in 2014.
Two years later she won with her celebrity partner Ore Oduba, 33, and has since gone on to star in productions of Thoroughly Modern Millie and The Rocky Horror Show.
Kevin, meanwhile has been a member of the Strictly cast since 2013.
He has made the final five times, before finally being crowned champion with Stacey Dooley, 32, last year.
Kevin has also returned to the stage this year, taking on the role of Stacee Jaxx in the Rock of Ages musical.
Elsewhere, Strictly Come Dancing fans’ world was rocked this week when Darcey Bussell, 49, announced she was leaving after seven years on the judging panel.
