Alex Jones, 42, burst into a fit of giggles on The One Show this week when Nick Knowles, 56, was teased by fellow guest Miriam Margolyes, 77. The presenter watched the seemingly awkward exchange take place as the actress and DIY SOS host took to the sofa for interviews on the BBC programme. Miriam made the quip about Nick’s appearance following his surprising admission about an artistic self-portrait. The star spoke to Alex and her co-host Matt Baker, 41, about the creative experience, revealing: “Someone did an oil painting for me.”
Explaining why the unique moment took place, Nick added: “I’d helped someone who was involved in the military, he became an artist and then wanted to do an exhibition of people who had helped him.
“So he did a portrait of me and offered me the portrait, which was great, I took it home.”
Alex then quizzed the TV personality about the quality of the image, wondering: “Was it a good likeness, were you happy with it?”
Nick jokingly replied: “It was, it had a big nose and a bit beardy, and it was a very good likeness.”
He then humbly added: “But where do you hang a picture of yourself in your own home? You can’t do it!”
However, in spite of Nick’s humble admission, Miriam excitedly took the opportunity to poke fun at the presenter’s story.
