#JetAirways CANCELS flights as Indian airline nears collapse - is your travel ...

Jet Airways has cancelled flights as the cash-strapped India-based airline looks to be on the point of collapse. The latest travel advice is for affected passengers to contact JetAirways for further information. Anyone due to fly from London Heathrow to the carrier's hubs in Delhi and Mumbai will have rights under EU flight delay law and will be entitled to alternative flights or a refund - regardless of what has caused the issues. However, those set to return to the UK will unfortunately not benefit from these rights.

Jet Airways CANCELS flights as Indian airline nears collapse - are your holidays affected?

An airline spokesperson told Express.co.uk: "Jet Airways has cancelled its operations between London and India for 12th April, 2019.

"The airline is working to minimise guest inconvenience using its 24x7 Contact Centre, Guest Relations and the Social Media response teams, who are proactively handling schedule adjustments, in line with defined regulatory guidelines, including offering re-accommodation choices or extending applicable refunds as the situation warrants.

"In parallel, the airline’s management and its key stakeholders including its consortium of lenders, continue to work closely towards resolving the current situation.

The vast majority of flights with Jet Airways are currently shown as “cancelled” or “non-operational.” The last Jet Airways London Heathrow departure left last night and arrived at 10.51am today local time. No further flights from London are planned.

Flights between Mumbai and Manchester with Jet Airways were launched in November 2018 but were axed in March 2019.

In the same month, a consortium of creditors, led by the State Bank of India (SBI), became the majority shareholders of Jet Airways following a debt-for-equity swap, reported The Independent.

In the last few months, the carrier also suspended operations to more than 15 short-haul international destinations in the Gulf, south-east Asia and SAARC countries (members of which include Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, the Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka), said India’s Economic Times.
