The Walking Dead team has seen a number of huge changes throughout the ten years of the show.
Carol Peletier (played by Melissa McBride) has been around since season one, where she played the unassuming and meagre character.
But Carol’s demeanour changed later in the show, as she has since been seen firing a sniper rifle to save her friends, and leading charges against enemy factions.
However she almost didn’t have the chance to evolve into the brutal and powerful character that fans know today, according to showrunner Scott Gimple.
Speaking to INSIDER, Scott explained Carol almost lost her life in the show.
He said: “[In] season 3, there was some conversation about maybe Carol going away.”
But Scott went on to admit he wasn’t eager to make the story happen.
He went on to admit: “I was dead set against it.
“Because I thought it would be a great story to see a person who came from abuse become the hero, and not in an easy way.
