Mr Redwood said MPs had lost faith in Britain’s ability to govern itself and instead were clinging to the idea of the UK attaching itself to the EU forevermore. The 67-year-old summed up the behaviour of many lawmakers as “bizarre” as they continue to coil away from the offer to “take back control” and instead advocate for a semi-Brexit. Writing on Twitter, the MP for Wokingham said: “The puppet Parliament still dances on the EU strings. This time it is the crowning irony. It does so to stop us taking back control.”
Mr Redwood, a member of Leave Means Leave, pointed out the hypocrisy of many MPs who rally for causes close to their hearts and those of their constituents but when given a choice would rather see British money sent to Brussels than pumped into communities at home.
He said: “MPs queue up in debates to tell us EU laws and rules are best, and try to find ways of extending or protecting them.
“They have no faith in our collective ability to choose wise and good laws for ourselves.”
He added: “Their behaviour is worrying and bizarre.
