Game of Thrones changed the way many aspects of TV entertainment works.

One of the subtle ways it revolutionised how things look in TV shows is in the costume department.

While it may look like IKEA rugs have been draped over a number of the shoulders of Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington) and co, a lot of hidden meaning is buried in how every character looks.

Express.co.uk recently caught up with Michele Clapton - an award-winning costume designer who worked on the HBO show - to find out more about the secrets each design holds.

Michele called her time on the show “quite poignant" hinting there could be some sad moments in the new series.

Michele said: “You know, it's the end of the era, and six episodes are coming out, so it’s time to look back and see what we started with.

“And how naive I think we were in the beginning, and how much we learned in the process moving forward about delegation, and how you set pieces up - and [how we] brought it to The Crown in some ways.”

It is interesting that Michele brought up the importance of Game of Thrones’ first season and its costumes as her remark is similar to one made by Arya Stark star Maisie Williams.
