Mrs Obama said she and her husband wanted to make life as normal as possible for their two daughters Malia and Sasha during their time as America's First Family and learning to drive was part of that. Unlike normal teenagers, Michelle Obama’s daughters were taught to drive by the secret agents that were an integral part of growing up in Washington. The former First Lady said: "My girls lived in the White House longer than they lived in any house.
"Malia was 10 and Sasha was seven, so they came of age in the middle of that.
"And I said, Well they've got to learn how to drive and we can't drive with them, so their agents had to teach them how to drive."
