The former First Lady was speaking at an event to promote her new book, Becoming, when she made the remark before going on to urge the people of the UK to stay engaged with politics and to resist becoming complacent or cynical. Mrs Obama said people "cannot afford to sit on the sidelines", and said it is time to "roll up our sleeves". Mrs Obama was speaking during her book tour at The O2 Arena in London on Sunday night.
Given the current state of affairs concerning Brexit, Mrs Obama was asked what advice she would give people in the UK about how to stay calm in this time of turmoil.
Mrs Obama joked: "Everybody's like 'help us out here'."
