Viewers have become increasingly upset over Maya Stepney’s (played by Louisa Clein) behaviour on the ITV soap.
Emmerdale began one of its most uncomfortable storylines yet when the schoolteacher began grooming loveable teenager Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) in the village.
Jacob was only 15 when her manipulation began, and while the pair didn’t sleep together until the student turned 16 Maya’s actions were sickening and inappropriate, and will create lasting trauma in the fallout of the intense plot.
What’s worse, Maya continues to remain in a relationship and have sex with Jacob’s stepfather David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden).
Now Liv Flaherty (Isobel Steele) has got caught up in the crossfire when she walked in on Maya and Jacob in bed together, realising her boyfriend was cheating on her.
Liv secretly recorded Jacob’s confession during a painful confrontation and has been blackmailing them ever since, meaning she could also get into trouble.
But tonight’s double bill may have revealed Maya’s former stepdaughter Leanna (Mimi Slinger) knows much more of what the education professional is capable of.
For one thing, Leanna hated Maya and tried to make her life a misery when she was married to her father Doctor Liam Cavanagh.
