Gemma (played by Dolly-Rose Campbell) will unexpectedly fall pregnant on the ITV soap with Chesney’s (Sam Aston) baby.
However, it comes at a time when their relationship has deteriorated and Chesney has already dumped her because he sees her as irresponsible.
So when she discovers the news, Gemma doesn’t immediately tell Chesney that they are expecting.
Coronation Street star Dolly-Rose has revealed that the character is concerned the news will make Chesney for the wrong reasons.
The actress told TV Times: “She doesn’t want Chesney to want them to be together just for the sake of the baby; she wants him to want her.
“And she’s got a real bee in her bonnet, thinking that he doesn’t think she’d be a good mum.
“She's had a real blow to her confidence and she is worried.”
Chesney has expressed concerns over Gemma’s parenting skills as she’s demonstrated questionable behaviour when she’s been looking after his young son Joseph.
This week on the programme, Chesney and Gemma went on a caravan holiday with a very reluctant Joseph.
