Susanna Reid is now dating chairman of Crystal Palace, Steve Parish, however her romantic life has seen a number of ups and down over the years. The Good Morning Britain host revealed how she was “stood up for a date” by an undisclosed man because she didn’t drink. The 49-year-old’s revelation came as she documented her life without alcohol, after giving up more than six months ago. Speaking in My Sober Diaries to The Sunday Times Style, she spoke candidly about the reaction she has received since making the lifestyle change.

Susanna commented: “What I do miss is the socialising. Alcohol brings you together with people to mark occasions. It’s a social binder.
“It’s part of our culture and our lives. Not drinking can seem to some like a form of dull piety or deliberate sabotage.”
She continued: “I’ve been to birthday lunches where the host feels insulted you’re not drinking champagne to celebrate her big day.”
