"One in a million" Victoria Komada has bilateral tibial hemimelia - which causes babies to be born with deformed legs and missing bones. Victoria had faced losing both her legs, and two years ago doctors said the only solution was a double amputation. But the family then found an American surgeon in Florida who performed two surgeries to save one of her legs and give her the ability to walk for the first time. Victoria's parents managed to raise £180,000 for her treatment with the generosity of communities in Norwich and Szczecin, where the family are from in Poland. Victoria and her parents Marzena Drusewicz, 32, and Dariusz Komada, 41, returned home from Florida on Monday. They are back at home in Norwich after nine months of treatment and the young girl can now walk, run and play sport.
Marzena said of her daughter's gruelling surgery and treatment: "She was in a lot of pain all day and all night. We had all had enough. It was really horrible. Of course I was so scared and didn't know what was going to happen. She would cry and scream so much after the operation.
