A tweet from Gogglebox’s official Twitter page addressed “fake news” that they are looking for new applicants. In a tweet to their 260,000 followers, they said particular publications “are posting that we are looking for applicants for #gogglebox This is untrue. We have never carried out an application process for the show and have predominantly only ever street cast. We hugely apologise for any inconvenience #fakenews". TV duo Lee and Jenny shared the post to their joint Twitter page warning fans of the false reports.

In view of their 79,000 followers, they wrote: “Please be aware folks [shocked face emojis] it’s fake news, fake news.”
Many of their social media fans flocked to their post to comment.
