David Walliams AND Simon Cowell recognise #BGT act in bizarre twist on ...

David, 47, jokily proposed to Simon Cowell, 59, on Britain’s Got Talent after the judges sent a husband and wife through to the next stage of the competition tonight, with the music mogul taken-aback when the comedian planted a kiss on him.

However, during the last part of this evening’s instalment of the ITV talent show, it was Simon’s turn to wind up David as the judges were introduced to music teacher Brian Gilligan from Dublin, hoping to get four yeses from the panel.

Though, as is routine before an act begins their performance, the panel ask a series of questions as they get to understand the contestant a little better, including why they want to take part on the show.

Before singing his rendition of I’ll Never Love Again from the A Star Is Born soundtrack, Brian revealed he had a musical background, having performed on the West End in a show David had seen him in.

Thought I recognised you

Simon Cowell

Wanting to learn more of Brian’s background, Simon asked: “Have you had a chance to have a break in the music business before?”

Brian replied: “Yes I have, yeah. I was very fortunate to have some success in the West End,” to which Simon’s fellow judge Amanda Holden, 48, asked: “In what?”

Knowing exactly what show Brian had played a part in, David said: “You were in The Commitments,” before commending the contestant, telling him: “I saw you in it, you were brilliant.”

However, wanting to tease David, Simon asked: “Were you in The Commitments?” pretending he’d ignored the comedian’s earlier statement.

Seemingly annoyed by Simon’s claim to know which show Brian had performed in, David got up out of his seat in haste and exclaimed: “I said that!”
