James McVey, 25, spoke out to clarify rumours about I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! winner Harry Redknapp’s involvement in his proposal on The One Show last week. The Vamps musician was quizzed by hosts Matt Baker, 41, and Alex Jones, 42, about reports that the former football manager, 72, had helped him to plan a very special part of his engagement to fiancee Kirstie Brittain, 23. Alex asked: “Is it true that Harry Redknapp helped you choose the ring for your lovely girlfriend Kirstie?” James enthusiastically replied: “Yeah, it’s beautiful!”
He then elaborated on his relationship with his ex-campmate, adding: “I really like him and we’ve got really close.”
The star also admitted that he has set a date for his wedding, telling the presenters that the big day will be taking place in “November next year.”
James and Harry developed a strong bond on last year’s series of the ITV reality show, after surviving various gruesome challenges and tasks together.
In a recent interview with HELLO! Magazine, the guitarist divulged further details about how Harry’s advice led to his proposal.
He explained: “Harry said he knew a really good jeweller whenever I was ready to do it and I thought, I may as well just do it,
"By the time Harry arrived I had already chosen the ring; as soon as I saw it I knew it was the one. And Harry loved it too.”
