Highs of 26C will be seen in the UK as high cloud will mean hazy sunshine over England and Wales. However, the sunshine will not last as thunderstorms are expected as early as Tuesday. Met Office meteorologist Ellie Creed said: “The Bank Holiday Monday is going to be pretty warm as temperatures have risen over the last few days.
“There will be plenty of clear spells overnight.
“One or two showers are starting to creep across Northern Ireland and western Scotland through the early hours of the morning.
“As the rain eases through the day, there is plenty of sunshine on offer.”
The mercury reached its highest point of the year at 25.5C in Gosport, Hampshire yesterday.
