Judge HITS OUT at £500,000 care cost of neglected children

He said the youngsters – who cannot be named for legal reasons – had grown up in a home where the father drank heavily and attacked their mother.

They were left to watch TV or play computer games, did not attend school or socialise with other children. After being given details of the case at the Family Court in Leeds, the judge ruled one of the girls had been abused by her older brother.

He said the children, aged between three and 16, had been housed at three separate residential homes since last April.

The oldest boy was in one children’s home, two other boys at another and the three girls had been sent to an agency foster home.
