HUGE wildfires rip apart 700 acres of moorland - ‘started by a barbecue’

The National Trust confirmed the wildfire across the West Yorkshire moorland was started by a barbecue. Crews were alerted to the blaze at 2.58pm on Monday. The blaze is on three fronts, with one front now stretching for six miles.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have sent nine fire appliances and two water carriers to the ongoing fire.

There are no reports of any casualties.

The incident comes on the day when Scotland recorded its warmest Easter Monday on record.

The mercury reached 24.2C at Kinlochewe in Wester Ross shortly after 4pm.
