Alexander, 49, and his Pointless co-host, Richard Osman, 48, were on hand to welcome three new pairings as well as a returning couple to this afternoon’s edition of the BBC quiz show.
After the host asked the players to introduce themselves, Alexander then introduced Richard, with the presenter noticing something unique about the contestant’s playing in today’s show.
With each of the couples made up of either a Tom or a Graham, Richard commented: “So many Toms, so many Grahams. Can you believe it?”
Alexander laughed: “Our economy of Tom and Graham today is phenomenal!”

Richard continued: “50% of the show is Tom or Graham, which we’ve never had before,” to which Alexander remarked: “No, never.”
With introductions out the way, Alexander moved on to revealing the first set of questions the contestants would be trying to answer.
Though, before the contestants could share their answers with the host, Alexander said: “Can I just commend the shirts?” referring to the variety of patterned shirts the players were wearing.
However, Alexander wasn’t too keen on one contestant’s shirt, joking: “I mean, obviously not all the shirts, Tom F could have tried a bit harder.”
After Tom F let out a brief laugh, Alexander did compliment the contestant on another aspect of his ascetic, telling him: “Nice tatts, though.
“But on podiums one and two, some phenomenal shirt work there."
