George Beauchamp survived the Titanic and Lusitania sinkings, the only person known to have done so. The Titanic sank after hitting an iceberg in 1912 and the Lusitania was torpedoed by Germany in the First World War in 1915. After surviving the tragedies, former trawlerman George told relieved relatives: "I have had enough of large ships - I'm going to work on smaller boats."
He died in 1944 at the age of 72.
Now on the 75th anniversary of his death, his family has called for recognition of his heroism.
George was a coal stoker when RMS Titanic hit an iceberg in the North Atlantic and was up to his waist in water before being given permission to quit the engine room.
