#GameOfThrones locations: Where was Game of Thrones filmed in Iceland?

Game of Thrones films in locations across Europe including Ireland, Spain and Croatia. Iceland, however, has been the location of a number of Game of Thrones’ most breathtaking vistas, including the Eyrie, the place where Brienne of Tarth (played by Gwendoline Christie) fought The Hound (Rory McCann) and the love nest of Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Ygritte (Rose Leslie). HBO and Sky Atlantic viewers can visit some of Game of Thrones’ Iceland locations, which include geothermal springs and breathtaking canyons.

Where was Game of Thrones filmed in Iceland?

Game of Thrones has filmed in Iceland across its eight seasons on HBO and Sky, with numerous tour operators offering tours in the country for GoT fans.

According to tour booking platform Klook, one of the most popular of these are Lake Mývatn and the Grjótagjá caves in the north of Iceland.

Chief revenue officer at Klook Anita Ngai told Express.co.uk exclusively: “The Grjótagjá Geothermal caves at Lake Mývatn known, better to Game of Thrones fans as the place where Jon Snow and Ygritte had their romantic rendezvous, has always been a fan favourite for our travellers.

“Visitors to this geothermal cave enjoy joining the locals in a steam bath to soothe their muscles after a long flight.
