Iain Dean makes HUGE decision in special #Casualty time-jump episode

Iain (played by Michael Stevenson) left his colleagues and sister Gemma Dean (Rebecca Ryan) terrified on Casualty when his grief over the death of his friend and fellow paramedic Sam Nicholls (Charlotte Salt), led to a harrowing mental health struggle.

The paramedic made a brief return to the BBC drama a couple of weeks ago after undergoing lifesaving surgery to speak with boss Jan Jenning (Di Botcher) about returning to work, but he was left in further turmoil.

Jan said it was too early for the paramedic to return to the line of duty and struck a deal with him - if he worked in the ambulance call centre for a period of time as well as receiving professional help, he could come back to work.

Although reluctant to accept help and annoyed he couldn’t return to his job, this week’s episode will see Iain’s life since his meeting with Jan and what has happened to him since then, with his mental health reaching another peak.

As the calls come through Iain, will help characters such as a policewoman in danger and a teenager trapped in a burning house with her family.

Taking a step back from his duties, Iain finally realises he needs to accept help and open up about his struggles, leading to him meeting with counsellor Claire (Frances Barber).

Will Iain, with the support of his friends, sister and new work colleagues, be able to move on from the guilt he holds over Sam’s death?
