Labour’s shadow Foreign Secretary explained how the public would likely follow a Labour Government into renewable energy. She highlighted one of the many ways the current Government has failed is by not discussing the issue. Her comments come after an audience member asked why the Tories should be trusted to tackle climate change.
He noted in the party’s term they have cut subsidies for renewable energy and supported fracking across Lancashire as well as expanded Heathrow.
Host Fiona Bruce asked Ms Thornberry if Labour would be any better than the Tories at taking action against climate change.
She said: “I think what needs to be done is that we need to put forward the arguments and we need the public with us.
“I think there are a number of things that the public would come with us on.
