Theresa May has witnessed Tory Party lose more than 500 council seats at the local elections on seats with only half of the votes counted. The full extent of the defeat will become clearer as Friday progresses but Sky News anchor Adam Boulton suggested the British Government could go on to lose "more than a 1,000" seats as discontent mounts over the management of the Brexit process. Mr Boulton said: "More than half of the results still have to come in so I think we should not quite paint the national picture yet.
"It’s possible that by the end o the evening if things carry on as they have done before, we could see the Conservatives losing more than 1,000 seats.
"That psychologically would be a serious blow to them."
More than 8,400 seats were up for election across England outside London. Local factors will always be partly to blame, and there's a mixed picture but images of voting cards scribbled in anti-May statements suggest Brexit played a role in the results
The Labour Party also saw the number of their councillors crumble, with Mr Boulton adding: "Labour absolutely in the doldrums.
