The Duke of Cambridge looked in good spirits as he commemorated 50 years of continuous deterrent by the Submarine service. William, 36, who has been Commodore-in-Chief of the fleet since 2006, did not appear to give an update on the royal baby but is conveniently located just one hour away from Windsor should he need to make the dash. The 36-year-old attended the event in London along with the newly appointed Defence Secretary Penny Mordaunt, following the controversial sacking of Gavin Williamson on Wednesday.
The Duke of Cambridge is no stranger to the media frenzy of a royal arrival, having fathered three children Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 4, and Prince Louis, 1, with his wife Kate, Duchess of Cambridge.
However, on a recent trip to New Zealand, William could not resist giving away information to eager royal watchers.
On Sunday a royal fan asked the Duke: “Any sign of the royal baby?”
