Iranian lawmaker Alaeddin Boroujerdi expressed his confidence in the country’s military capabilities in response to the US as tensions reach breaking point. Mr Boroujerdi, who had previously served as Iran’s deputy foreign minister responded to National Security Advisor John Bolton’s statement yesterday. Mr Bolton claimed the US had sent the naval force to the region in order to send a clear message to the state.
Boroujerdi told the Tehran Times: “Today, the US is aware of our military capabilities.
“We gained victory during the eight years of war between Iran and Iraq between 1980-88 despite all the Western countries’ support for Iraq.
“We have achieved many advances.
“If the U.S. aircraft carrier makes a mistake, it will definitely be drowned by our precision-guided missiles.”
